It's been a while since I've posted. First I waited forever for spring to come but the snow and storms wanted to hang around...and hang around...and... Finally it arrives, we get a few truly nice days and I get a few truly subpar photos...and Blogger goes down. Same day, we get a flashflood (haven't seen one for 11 years, but the memories hang on) and the cattle escaped the barn. Not sure how it happened, but it might be the gate that son #1 left open. Never saw him jump up so fast and leave the house on the tear. Something about cattle marching past your dining room window does that to you. By the time I got out there, most of the herd was thundering down the hill right in my direction, took one look at me (not sure what that says about me!) and changed direction and ran right into the barn! At that point, I could have brushed one hand against the other in that - that-was-a-job-easily-and-well-done kind of motion but, while I was standing there in shock, I missed my chance to pat myself on the back. I noticed the other 5-6 that apparently didn't believe in playing follow-the-leader and had been off somewhere at their own party. They took at least another half hour because they thought that trudging through our previously-dry-now-6inches-deep-in-mud field was partytown and wouldn't leave it - and they thought we'd like the party location, too!
I haven't said much about Blogger going down and I won't, either. I know that Blogger allows certain words on here...but I'll still refrain. I decided to stay away 'til such time as I could talk nicely again!
Since then, it has rained for 2 weeks straight. Not good for grumpy farmers who want on the land. Not good for gardeners who want on the land. Not good for wannabe bloggers who want to go down backroads to take pics., but who might get washed away so she'd better not go there. Oh, then we got a nice day - it was only about 500 degrees (Farenheit, Celcius, take your pick) with humidity at ...whatever. It was hot! Yesterday and today, though, were beautiful!!!! Gives me hope that 'normal' might be back!
Sooo, to compensate for the grouchy post, I'm going to put some truly sub-par photos of some truly happy farmers back out where they belong.
